LOCAL CITIZENS BUILD COMMUNITY ADMARC

LOCAL CITIZENS BUILD COMMUNITY ADMARC

Inspired by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) supported project called “Strengthening Governance Accountability Through Citizen Oversight” project, which is being implemented by Center for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT).  Communities from the area of Group Village Head (GVH) Msuzumire in TA Chakhaza in Dowa have built a community Admarc to support them in storing farm inputs.

The construction of the Mtambalika Admarc was initiated by the members of Area Development Committee (ADC) after being trained in project management and participation, appraisal, monitoring and procurement of project materials by CSAT.

Chairperson of Mtambalika community Admarc GVH Msuzumira said local communities mobilized resources such as bricks, sand and labour to start the project before being supplemented by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Said the chairperson of Mtambalika community Admarc, GVH Msuzumire:

“After being drilled by CSAT on our roles in development, we realized we had a right to initiate development of our choice. Therefore, we decided to embark on the construction of Mtambalika  Admarc in 2021 which we desperately needed in our community to help us in storing farm inputs. At first, we used to store farm inputs in a borrowed dilapidated building.”
